Relationship health and literacy
People who have difficulty understanding and applying information often have poorer health than literate people. They use care more often, they have less knowledge about health and more difficulty with compliance and self-care. They also have a greater chance of dying earlier.
Language training and health
There is a lot to be gained for low-literate people. Language training not only makes language more proficient, but also happier, more self-reliant, more active and low-literate people feel healthier both physically and psychologically. All partners of the alliance promise to make an active effort to reduce low literacy in the Netherlands.

With this heythe Health and Literacy Alliance now has 69 partners.
