With the TopTaalcafé we want to offer a place to everyone who wants to speak Dutch.
TopTaal will start on Thursday 9 January on behalf of the municipality Amsterdam and in collaboration with the oba 'Het TopTaalcafé'.
With the TopTaalcafé we want to offer a place to everyone who wants to speak Dutch. Foreign speakers and volunteers have the opportunity to talk to each other. The meetings are easily accessible and there is a relaxed atmosphere. Nothing must, anything is allowed. In Dutch.
Learning and practicing a language is best done by doing. Speaking is the most important part to learn a language well. That goes best in a casual way in a cozy place. At the TopTaalcafé you are not obliged to talk. And this low threshold and non-committalism often makes people dare to talk. The language cafe is a weekly recurring free event, through which people make lasting contacts and find their way to society better.
Each week there is a theme. These themes will often connect to (neighborhood) current affairs or topics that are relevant to daily life as a newcomer in Amsterdam. Attention is paid to 21 century skills such as media literacy and digital skills and there is room to relax by means of Dutch board games. Once a month there is a closing TopTalk, in which someone from their own group or a guest speaker talks about a certain topic.
The TopTaalcafé is open every Thursday from 17.00:19.00 pm to XNUMX:XNUMX pm at the Public Library Amsterdam (oba) in Buitenveldert.
